Subject: Announcement in support of the Iranian Teachers and students in Islamic Republic prisons
A member of Sweden’s governing coalition, Folkpartiet Liberlerna based on the belief that education and
the rule of laws based on human rights is the key to peace and well-being everywhere on this earth.
As members of the Party, we are deeply concerned that Iranian teachers and students are subject to
persecution for exercising their universal right to free speech, while demanding a minimum standard of
living, which is another right under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed by Iran.
Your Excellencies, our party members are united in expressing their grave concern for the safety of those
Iranian teachers and students now imprisoned for gathering peacefully outside the Iranian Majles and
Ministry of Education building. We are shocked to learn that, many Teachers and students, were arrested in
the classrooms. Despite the constant protest of their relatives and the resumption of the school year in Iran,
some of them are still missing.
This attack on the sanctity of the classroom, which is respected throughout the civilized world, leaves us no
choice but to protest strongly against such actions undertaken by the Islamic Republic’s security forces.
We hereby request that the imprisoned teachers and students be freed forthwith, and their rights to freedom
of speech and assembly be respected.
Yours sincerely,
